Component
Video Cables
Component video cables use 3 separate cables to carry the
complex and delicate video signal to your screen. By using
three cables, and the appropriate electronic circuitry, a
much clearer and sharper picture can be obtained than by
using a single ‘composite’ cable or S-Video cable. Compared
with the cost of high quality screens the additional cable
is very cost-effective in relation to the benefit gained in
better picture quality. Black Rhodium Component Video
Cables deliver clearer pictures with sharper images,
resulting from Silver-plated wire and low loss PTFE
insulation.
Magenta
Component Video Cable
If you are using a high quality plasma or projector for
your viewing, you will only gain the full benefit of the
high resolution of the larger screen if you feed it a high
quality signal. Unless you use a high quality cable, made
from high quality materials, you will lose some of the
detail in the complex electrical signal that goes to make
up the picture on your screen. On the screen that loss of
detail manifests itself in a less sharp image of the people
and objects you are watching, with poorer contrast in the
shading and less natural colours. Black Rhodium has
extended their philosophy (well proven in audio cables) of
only using the very best materials in the construction of
their video cables.
Magenta is Black Rhodium’s most successful high-resolution
video cable. Magenta uses Silver plated Copper conductors
rather than Copper because Silver-plating delivers greater
resolution of detail at higher frequencies. The insulation
chosen for Magenta is low loss PTFE. The benefit of PTFE is
the low dielectric absorption in the insulation material,
reducing the time smearing effect on the signal that causes
a picture to look poorly focussed. With Magenta you will
enjoy a clearer and sharper picture on your screen.
The signal carrying conductors are each covered in a
braided Silver-plated Copper screen and covered with
brightly coloured sheaths of red, blue and green. The 3
separated cables are covered in an attractive Magenta
coloured sheath.

Indigo component video cable has been developed to meet the
requirement for a high quality video cable in systems where
the transmission impedance of 75 Ohms is critical to the
performance of the system.
Indigo component video cable has been based on a high
performance ’industry standard’ cable that has been
developed by Black Rhodium especially for component video
applications. Made from thin but tough Silver-plated Copper
coated Steel conductors Indigo is insulated to 75 Ohms
impedance using PTFE insulation and screened in a
Silver-plated Copper braid. Three coaxial conductors,
sheathed in attractive Red, Blue and Green PVC are housed
in an attractive and convenient Dark Blue outer sheath.
Indigo is particularly suited for longer cable runs where
the accurate impedance matching results in lower loss of
signal.
