The Tannoy Dual Concentric is still considered to be one of the most sophisticated and well-engineered driver designs ever made. Given its high efficiency (greater than 94dB) and wonderful sound qualities, it's no wonder that a determined music enthusiasts endeavour to obtain some of their finer loudspeakers.
My first exposure to Tannoy was in 1976, at the home of
friend Storm Thorgerson who had the 15" Gold
Monitors in Tannoy's Rectangular York eclosures. I was
mightily impressed with the coherence, dynamics, tonality
and overall majesty of the sound. In the years hence, I
have heard the following Tannoy speakers: Corner York,
Canterbury, Corner Chatsworth, Rectangular Chatsworth,
Lancaster, Corner Lancaster, Arden, IIILZ and the awesome
GRF!! It is my personal observation that the musical bass
quality is something of a Tannoy house sound while at
the same time exhibiting a great openness in the midrange
and treble.

most sought after vintage speakers ever and it is in
excellent cosmetic and electrical condition. If you are

this superior speaker. This ultimate corner bass reflex
loading system with its high sensitivity, 12, alnico
magnet, dual concentric speaker driver offers greatly
increased efficiency with an exceptional transient response
whilst providing a wave front approaching that from real
instruments. The unsurpassed build quality is truly the
best-in-class. Tannoy cared about building only the finest
quality speakers. The beautiful wooden corner cabinet with
its extensive padding reduces colouration and enhances
midrange detail as well as speed and clarity. The Tannoy
Canterbury sets the standard for the reproduction of low
frequency performance, dramatic dynamic range and presence.
This versatile speaker is best driven by low power
single-ended PX4/PX25/Type 10/2A3/300B valve
amplifiers.

Tannoy Corner Lancaster speakers, finished in
Teak, fitted with the 12 inch Monitor Gold drive
units. From around approx 1968/69. Dual concentric, like
the 15inch golds, they also have deep fast musical
bass and detailed upper frequencies, bass is not quite as
extended as the 15inch version!! With no hint of
harshness, as the high frequency unit is concentric their
imaging capabilities are matched by few other speakers.
The cabinets are in excellent condition, the drive
units are great and working perfectly, with a wonderful
open-ness and clarity to the sound. I've checked them
over and they are in perfect condition.

What we have here is a beautiful pair of 12 inch Monitor
Golds in vintage Tannoy Rectangular Chatsworth cabinets,
they are absolutely immaculate and in perfect working
order-not only do the speakers sound beautiful but the
cabinet woodwork is also immaculate, these have been used
until recently in a prestigious home hi fi system
incorporating valve amplification.
The units have been returned to Tannoy and had a full
check up and service.

Made to order, £2500 empty, perfectly made, finished, real
wood veneered cabinet which employs the 10" Monitor Red in
a rear horn-loaded design.
The Cornettas thrive on large-scale symphonic works with
aplomb. The speakers' imaging like many hornspeakers --
especially vintage horns -- is not really what they are
about. It's the feel, the soul and musicality that makes
you tingle!! They place the vocalists and instruments on
the stage in their proper locations, depth is superb,
they give you the impression that you could walk around
behind the speakers and touch the instruments, for their
size they image very well and convey an ease of the music,
combined with a wealth of detail, made for captivating
listening. They are entirely non-fatiguing listening on
both CD and of course, vinyl.
