For turntable use you must use an external phono stage.
All 6 inputs are identical and hardwired to the selector
switch using silver alloy cable with PTFE cover. The output
of the switch is routed to the potentiometer and tape
socket again with the silver alloy cable. The seperate left
and right potentiometers are a very high quality cermet
type 100k ohms linear with 10k ohms precision metal film
resistors as by-pass to simulate log law (there is also a
stepped attenuator version see listings). The signal is
routed by using silver alloy cable. There are three sets of
output sockets in parallel to facilitate Bi or Tri amping.
This pre-amp is entirely passive, this combined with the
cermet pot means that there can be surface noise from the
pot when being moved, this is normal. Cermet track is not
as smooth as as conductive plastic film or carbon tracks
but has a far superior sound quality.

This is the first power amplifier in the range and offers
the same circuit technology as can be found in the top of
the range "dual 4 regulated" but with a more economical
power supply based on a 250VA custom made mains
transformer. This is split into 2 separate windings, 1 of
170VA which supplies the power amplifier section and the
remaining 80VA being used for an internal +/- 24 volt
regulated pre-amplifier supply. This enables the 8 to be
used in conjunction with the Exposure 7 pre-amplifier to
produce a combination which will stand comparison with any
similarly priced combination currently available. It has a
power output which is nominally rated at 50 Watts into 8
Ohms and has a transient capability in excess of 150VA.

The outstanding performance of the Quad 303 is largely due
to the unique output circuit developed by Quad. The Quad
303 produces 45W RMS of the sweetest sound. If you are
looking for a Quad 303 then look no further, you will not
be dissapointed! This unit will function either at 100-125
or 200-250V, 50-60Hz.Dimensions are: 120mm wide, 159mm high

This high performing pre-amplifier is still in demand for
it's neutral sound, eq and dubbing facilities, and
legendary Quad build quality. It is fitted with Disc, Aux,
Radio and 2 tape Input/Output cards. There is a
comprehensive array of switches to adjust for Cartridge
sensitivity on the Disc input and operating level on the
tape inputs, and 3 main outputs from the pre at different
levels. It's quite unique in being able to interface
professional recording equipment (high output) with
domestic gear, there are TWO tape monitor buttons so each
recording device can be checked. There's the unusual Quad
"Tilt" tone shaper, 9dB of bass lift, and a High-pass
filter at 150 or 300 Hz. In addition there's a fully
variable Low Pass filter, variable up to 25 dB at 10K, 7K
or 5Khz.
