Reference 1.1 12AU7 x 2 Tube Line stage
£2495

R1.1 represents the top model of Opera Audio's current range of per-amplifiers. It is a 20dB gain line stage pre-amplifier using improved SRPP circuit with no global negative feedback. The equipment top uses cherry wood while equipment feet are brass cones for improved shock absorption. Front plate is of machined aluminum.

The internal components used are among the finest available in the world today. The potentiometer uses the single stereo ELMA 24 position series attenuator with 46 Holco 1% precision resistors. Apart from having excellent sonic characteristic, it guarantees the sound stage precision at any volume level. The capacitors used for signal coupling is both the exotic US MultiCap RTX and the Rel-Cap. Resistors used is a combination of Holco and Chinese made precision aerospace low temperature drift version. All connections are point to point wiring using Kimber high purity copper hook up wire. The circuit board acts as a support frame for the tubes and other components and actual point to point wirings are done beneath the circuit board.

The two tubes used in the main circuit is the fabulous sounding 12AU7 NOS made in the 50/60s. Due to limited supply they are very hard to find in the market and price-wise expensive but absolutely one of the very best. In order that users can try out different types of 12AU7, the R1.1 is designed to use components that has very little colored sound of their own. In this way, during tube rolling the R1.1 can clearly show off the sound of the tube itself. A lot of satisfaction will then be achieved by trying out other exotic tubes like the Telefunken and Mullard.

Good quality pre-amplifier calls for a good quality power supply. The power transformer and choke is shielded from the circuit board. A special silicon steel EI type power transformer and choke with good high frequency response is used together with large Solen MKP metallized polypropylene filtering capacitor. Its filtering characteristic is very uniform across the frequency range and adds to the purity of the sound.
To reduce the microphone effect, two Pearl tube coolers are used. Not only they are effective in reducing microphone effect, they are also a very good heat sink which can greatly extend tube life. Other convenient features are added like the -10dB muting switch, which can reduce the usage of the expensive potentiometer and as a result extends its life.

Reference 150L Remote Control Integrated Hybrid Amplifier (6H30S/S 120W)
£1195

Reference 150 Linear, as the upgraded version of original Reference 150, is an completely new design based on the COOL Class A technology developed from Calaf, and combined with the well concerned 6H30 tube buffer preamp stage with technology inherited from the original Reference 150 hybrid amplifier. Same outlook same function and a lot better sound performance.

Combined the advantage of class AB and the class A technology, the Cool Class A technology actually achieved same linear sound performance essentially but without normal need of big electrical current, as Class A does.

  • 120 watt output power, screen display equipped
  • Relay switched input source selector
  • Digitally controlled 6H30 tube preamp stage
  • Cool Class A technology applied in amplifier stage

Reference 9.9 Mono block Tube Power Amplifier (845 SE, 28W)
pair £4795

The Reference 9.9 monoblock tube power amplifier is the matching top of the range amplifier for the R1.1. Similar to R1.1, the top uses cherry wood with large machined aluminum front plate. Each channel uses a direct heated triode Shuguang 845 for single-ended class A amplification. First stage goes through a Siemens 60s NOS E88CC and US 5687 NOS as the powerful driver stage to realize an output power of 28W, with no global negative feedback. Point to point wirings are used with Kimber high purity copper hook up wire. Resistors are Chinese military grade metal film. Signal coupling capacitors are from Rel-Cap/PPMF. R9.9 has very good driving power due to a strong power supply and well designed output transformer.

Cyber-800 Mono block Tube Power Amplifier (6CA7 P/P parallel,78W] pair £2995

The Cyber 800 are a 'no compromise' Reference version of the already excellent M800SE Monoblocks. The circuitry is basically the same although the input stage of the Cyber Series is used and the output stages uses 6CA7 tubes instead of the EL34 in the M800. Although these two tubes are basically the same, the 6CA7 gives a better controlled and deeper bass performance when used in this configuration. The more advanced and heavier duty Cyber power supplies are also used. These improvements added to the absolutely awesome build quality of the Cyber cases result in an especially impressive amplifier, both sonically and visually.

Cyber-211 Mono block Tube Power Amplifier (211 SE, 16W)
pair £4295

The Cyber-211 is a single-ended class A mono power amplifier. It uses no global feedback. The 5687 is a high mu dual triode, and acts as one tube with drive stage. AC voltage applied to the input goes first to the E88CC and then to the grid of the 5687. The 5687 provides voltage gain and drives the 211/845 output tube. The 211/845 is transformer-coupled to the load. (In this case, the speaker).

Cyber Signature 10 Remote Control Integrated 2A3 11w P/P amplfie
r £1395

With suitable speakers, the Cyber-10 Signature is a gutsy integrated amplifier with huge dynamics. It sounds muscular, detailed, and smooth. The Cyber-10 Signature handled vocals with noteworthy clarity and intelligibility. It came close to matching the sound of much more expensive reference electronics, at just over one-third their cost. If you need even more power, Opera Audio offers the Cyber-100S Signature integrated amp, which uses 300B triodes to produce 22Wpc. For fans of low-power tubes, Opera Audio's various product lines may prove interesting and enticing.

Cyber Signature 100S Remote Control Integrated 300B 22w P/P Amplifier £1595

The Consonance Cyber 100s signature sounds good. Pace, rhythm and Timing are intact; it doesn't boogie like a Naim, but it's not turgid like some high-end pretenders. Musical qualities are present, as one would hope. Instruments seem to have their natural timbre with no undue emphasis on any particular aspect of performance or frequency band. Some amplifiers seem to favour certain parts of the spectrum, like obvious bass or beguiling midrange, but this amplifier seems even handed in its presentation. In basic £1595 form the Consonance Cyber 100 signature represents excellent value for money, continuing the present trend for bargain Chinese audio. This amplifier hints at many high-end qualities, that become more apparent as the upgrade path of Ella Baby mains lead and TJ Meshplate valves is followed by the proud owner.
